FITEX calming drops for dogs, 10 ml

Composition and action

The medicine was developed and produced in Russia, contains only herbal ingredients:

  • valerian extract;
  • motherwort;
  • Baikal skullcap;
  • hop.

All plants are known for their medicinal properties and ability to have a gentle effect on the nervous system of animals.

The calming effect of valerian has been known for a long time. It relieves anxiety and improves the functioning of the cardiovascular system. As part of medicinal preparations, valerian root extract is used to treat hyperactivity, insomnia, anxiety and other stress conditions. Due to its calming effect, valerian is used to reduce the frequency of epileptic seizures in animals.

Motherwort has sedative and anticonvulsant effects, lowers blood pressure, relieves spasms and pain. Fitex contains common hop extract, which has a sedative and mild analgesic effect. Helps get rid of fear, relieves spasms and eliminates convulsions.

Taken together, the combination of medicinal herbs has a gentle effect on the animal’s nervous system, preventing the negative effects of stress factors on its body, correcting the pet’s behavior in cases of stressful situations.

Important! There are no chemical additives in Fitex, so the medicine is considered safe for all animals if they do not have individual intolerance to the components.

Composition and storage conditions

Fitex contains a whole complex of natural plant extracts (100 milligrams in one milliliter of drops). The main components are made from several herbs:

  • common hops (eliminates anxiety, suppresses sexual activity);
  • valerian officinalis (has a pronounced sedative effect, improves sleep, relieves depression and aggression);
  • Baikal skullcap (reduces blood pressure, promotes adaptation of the body in stressful situations, exhibits an anticonvulsant effect);
  • motherwort (reduces the excitability of the central nervous system, has a strong sedative effect, has a beneficial effect on the functioning of various systems, including the cardiovascular and gastrointestinal tract).

The presented plants are able to have a mild effect on the autonomic and central nervous systems. The drug quickly calms the animal and helps correct its behavior in stressful situations (visiting the veterinarian, sexual heat, etc.).

An important point is that the drug does not contain sugar, so it can be given to animals prone to diabetes. The absence of alcohol in the composition is also very convenient, since this component can cause allergic reactions. And it’s easier to give a cat something to drink without it.

If stored incorrectly, the drug can deteriorate and pose a threat to the health of the animal. Therefore, the manufacturer recommends observing the following conditions:

  • store in closed containers away from direct sunlight;
  • keep at a temperature of 5–30 °C;
  • Avoid sharing with feed and food products.

The use of expired medication is also contraindicated. The spoiled drug should be thrown away. An empty bottle cannot be used for household purposes.

Purpose

Animals have no less provoking reasons for stress than people. It can be:

  • moving, changing home;
  • departure of the owner or change of owner;
  • long trip;
  • a visit to the veterinarian or groomer;
  • Exhibitions;
  • vaccinations and other manipulations;
  • excessive sexual activity;
  • mating, childbirth and others.

A disorder of the nervous system can manifest itself in a pet in different ways: in some – increased excitability, in others – decreased activity, lethargy and apathy. Animals can whine and bark, damage things and furniture, some change their taste habits: they try to eat inedible objects.

Stress can be short-term or chronic. The first can be caused by veterinary procedures, hygiene measures, visiting noisy places, etc. The dog tries to hide and refuses to play, but this condition usually passes quickly and therefore does not require medical intervention.

If stress factors occur frequently, or the pet has been in uncomfortable conditions for a long time: frequent business trips of the owner, a new place of residence, the appearance of a child or another animal in the house, he cannot cope with nervous overstrain on his own. Chronic stress manifests itself in different ways:

  • a dog trained to endure makes puddles in the house;
  • refuses food, even any treats;
  • does not obey the owner, does not show activity;
  • moves little, looks apathetic;
  • breathing heavily;
  • often licks itself until bald patches form.

A dog that is often stressed can become aggressive even towards its owner. On the street, she can pick up garbage and inedible objects and does not respond to her owner’s commands. The following symptoms may indicate stress:

  • nervousness and anxiety - dogs cannot sit in one place, do not lie on their bedding, and constantly move;
  • excessive barking;
  • increased salivation;
  • intestinal or urinary system disorders and others.

Fitex can be prescribed before surgery, for injuries accompanied by severe pain. The components included in the drug, along with a sedative, have an analgesic effect.

Mode of application

The only drawback of Fitex is the long course of treatment. A gentle herbal preparation does not give immediate results, so it is recommended to use it before the onset of a stressful event.

Standard application regimen: 1 drop per 1 kg of pet’s body weight. It is recommended to give drops 1 hour before feeding, forcefully on the root of the tongue. Can be mixed with your pet's favorite treat or food. The medicine must be given three times a day, for a course of 15-30 days. If your dog is afraid of travel, a visit to the veterinarian, or a dog show, it is recommended that you begin a course of sedative therapy a few days before the event.

How to use

According to the instructions for use for Fitex, a single dose for cats is 3-5 drops. You should take into account the size of the animal and its condition (how severe the effects of stress or sexual activity are). The medicine should be given three times a day. Treatment is usually long-term – 15-30 days.

The medicine should be dripped onto the root of the tongue or into the cheek area and do not allow the animal to spit it out. If this procedure causes dissatisfaction in the pet, then Fitex can be dripped onto a small piece of food and fed to the animal. The drug should be given one hour before feeding. In this case, its action will be most effective.

Note! If the animal is under stress (planned trip to the veterinarian, arrival of guests, transportation, etc.), you should start giving the medicine 5-7 days in advance. Preventing stress is much easier than coping with its consequences later.

Restrictions

Plant components can cause an allergic reaction, so you should not give Fitex if you are hypersensitive, prone to allergies, or have low blood pressure. For puppies, pregnant and lactating females, the medicine can be used only after consultation with a veterinarian and under his supervision.

Important! Greinhound dogs are hypersensitive to substances contained in hops, so you need to choose a different medicine to treat them.

In case of an overdose or allergy, the dog may experience the following symptoms:

  • redness and rashes on the skin;
  • itching;
  • nausea and vomiting;
  • intestinal disorder;
  • sleep disorder - insomnia.

If you have such signs, you should contact your veterinarian, who usually prescribes antihistamines and symptomatic therapy.

Is it possible to give Fitex to pregnant cats and kittens?

Fitex is considered a safe sedative, so it can be used by both pregnant and lactating cats. These drops are most often prescribed to kittens, since babies are characterized by hyperactivity, playfulness and fear.

When my sister first got a cat, he was still small, but from the first days he began to be naughty. Donut chewed shoes, scratched sofas and dropped everything that was in bad shape. The cat did not shit, so there was no question of giving the animal into good hands. The veterinarian recommended Fitex. The kitten calmed down the very next day, but did not become lethargic. The animal seemed to become happier, the problems were over. Later the course had to be repeated, but after castration the incorrect behavior stopped altogether.

Fitex can be used by pregnant cats and kittens of any age

Precautions when working with drops

The manufacturer does not indicate any precautions, so you can follow the general rules:

  • Avoid contact of drops with eyes and mucous membranes;
  • in case of accidental contact with the medicine, it should be washed off with running water;

Price and analogues

Anti-stress drops are inexpensive: the average price is 130-150 rubles per 10 ml of the drug.

Other herbal medicines have a calming effect, which can replace Fitex if you are intolerant to the components of the medicine:

  1. Stop-stress – does not contain valerian;
  2. Kot Bayun – contains an expanded composition of medicinal herbs;
  3. Nutri-Vet Antistress - in addition to plant extracts, it contains amino acids necessary for the production of serotonin (the hormone of happiness).

  • can be used for cats and cats of different breeds and ages;
  • contains only natural ingredients;

The main disadvantages are:

  • the need for long-term treatment (at least 2 weeks);
  • weaker effect compared to synthetic chemical sedative medications.

Although the herbal sedative is considered safe, you should consult your doctor before using it.

Indications for use.
