Table: Brit Care food range

Name of foodTypeAverage cost (per 1 kg of granules or a can of canned food)Peculiarities
CrazyDry500 rub.Dry food for kittens. Contains a relatively high amount of easily digestible protein (38%), which is represented mainly by dried and fresh chicken. The manufacturer enriches diets with salmon oil. This allows kittens to receive enough vitamins, omega-6 and omega-3, which are required for the harmonious development of immunity and the central nervous system. Additionally, the recipe includes prebiotics that help normalize the microflora.
LuckyDry500 rub.Standard dry food for adult cats. The manufacturer states that sodium hexamethophosphate has been added to the product, which prevents the formation of tartar. Among the benefits of the product is the content of psyllium. This is a source of fiber. Plant fibers remove rotting food debris and fecal stones from the intestinal walls. They also stimulate the movement of feces, but premium and super-premium foods usually have enough fiber without additives. The manufacturer also cites the presence of amino acids as an advantage. This is a perceived benefit because arginine and taurine are found naturally in meat. If there is enough meat in the feed, amino acids are not added separately. In general, this is the most common food that provides the animal’s body with the necessary minimum of nutrients.
TobbyDry500 rub.Food for large cats. This is a grain-free diet, but the quality does not differ much from its analogues, since grains here replace potatoes and yellow peas. They are also not of particular value for pets and are used as filler to reduce the cost. However, this food can be offered to allergy sufferers. The key feature of this variety is the presence of chondroprotectors: glucosamine and chondroitin. They protect joints from injury due to increased load during movement. Significant disadvantages include the high fat content of the feed (17%) and calorie content (390 kcal per 100 g). Some cats may gain weight on this diet, so monitoring their weight is recommended.
AngelDry500 rub.Food for elderly pets over 7 years old. Contains relatively little fat (12%), which helps prevent the development of gastrointestinal diseases. The increased concentration of fiber allows you to maintain normal digestion, but in case of hypersensitivity it can cause the appearance of mucus and blood in the stool. The proportion of minerals in the diet is reduced. This prevents the development of urolithiasis. Granules are more porous and easier to chew. Reducing the stress on teeth reduces the risk of tooth loss. For some cats, this consistency is more attractive than the standard consistency.
CoccoDry550 rub.Dry food for picky cats with sensitive digestion. To prevent the development of allergies and the appearance of abnormalities in the gastrointestinal tract, the manufacturer has developed a grain-free recipe. However, potatoes take second place in the list of ingredients, so the nutritional value of the food remains the same. To prevent overload of the gastrointestinal tract, the manufacturer uses salmon and duck as the main source of protein. These are easily digestible meats that help provide the animal’s body with a complete set of amino acids. Additionally, the smell of fish increases the appetite of some cats. It must be taken into account that the composition contains chicken, which can cause an allergy when reacting to bird protein.
MontyDry500 rub.Food for cats that live at home. The diet has an average calorie content (380 kcal per 100 g), which allows you to maintain normal body weight. Outdoor cats remove hair during physical activity and with the help of rough tree bark. Pets are deprived of this opportunity, so the manufacturer has added additional sources of plant fiber to the composition. They prevent the formation of dense lumps and promote timely hair removal.
CheekyDry500 rub.Food for cats that spend most of their time outdoors. The composition is additionally enriched with chondroprotectors to reduce the negative effects of excessive physical activity. The manufacturer adds sodium hexametaphosphate to prevent tartar formation and maintain oral health. The food is high in calories: 100 g of granules contain 420 kcal. The diet is very high in fat (20%), so it is not suitable for all cats.
LillyDry500 rub.Food for cats with sensitive digestion. The manufacturer claims that this is a hypoallergenic diet, although in fact this is not the case. The main protein ingredients are dietary meats (salmon and lamb), but the company has additionally included isolated chicken protein. Birds relatively often cause allergies, so their presence is undesirable. There are no grains in the composition, but this is not the only grain-free food in the line. The only advantage of this variety is the presence of milk thistle. It improves the condition of the liver, the load on which increases with increased sensitivity.
SunnyDry500 rub.Food for improving the condition of coat and skin. The main ingredient is salmon meal. This is a controversial decision. On the one hand, fish contains more tocopherols and omega acids, which help create a protective film, reduce water evaporation and prevent the negative effects of the external environment. On the other hand, the composition does not contain meat, but salmon flour. In reality, these may be bones, fins, scales, offal and other waste that cannot be used in the production of human food. The benefits of such an ingredient are questionable.
DaisyDry500 rub.Cat food for weight control. The manufacturer increased the proportion of proteins (40%) and reduced the amount of fat (10%) to prevent the appearance of fatty tissue and harmonious muscle growth. The latter help burn energy even at rest, which promotes weight loss.
MissyDry450 rub.Food for sterilized cats. The diet contains psyllium (a source of fiber) and is low in fat (12%), which helps normalize weight. Additionally, the food maintains an optimal level of urine acidity. The calcium and phosphorus content (0.7% and 0.6% respectively) is very low. On the one hand, this prevents the appearance of stones in the urinary system. On the other hand, such a low concentration is fraught with the occurrence of a deficiency, so it is advisable to get tested periodically.
Brit Care Cat KittenWet (canned)85 rub. for 80 g A small line of wet food for kittens. Approximately 50% of the composition is meat, but this is not the best indicator. This also includes water, which is additionally separated into another separate ingredient. In fact, it is a mixture of animal ingredients with rice, cheese and other additives.
Brit Care CatWet (canned food and pouches)85 rub. for 80 g Canned food for adult cats is very similar in composition to similar food for kittens, but spiders additionally contain modified starch. It has nothing to do with GMO products and is used to give a thick consistency to sauces. Starch in some cases causes an increase in blood glucose levels, so its presence is undesirable.

Table: Brit Premium food range

Name of foodTypeaverage costPeculiarities
Brit Premium CatWet (pouches and canned food)40 rub. per 100 g The line consists of several varieties. They are not much different, since in most cases the share of the declared type of meat is insignificant: only 8%. Most of the composition is devoted to meat and meat by-products. There are special spiders for kittens and sterilized cats. They differ from ordinary ones in the balance of minerals and vitamins.
KittenDry300 rub.Food for kittens. Contains more fat (19%) and calories (410 kcal per 100 g) compared to a standard diet for adult cats. The proportion of vitamins and minerals is also changed, since kittens require useful substances for the correct development of internal organs.
AdultDry300 rub.A line of food for adult cats, which consists of two types of diets: chicken and fish. The division is conditional, since the last product also contains chicken.
SeniorDry300 rub.Food for older cats with reduced fat content (12%) and reduced mineral concentration. Low calorie content (355 kcal per 100 g) helps maintain optimal body weight.
SterilizedDry300 rub.Food for sterilized and neutered animals. Contains low fat (12%), calcium (0.9%), phosphorus (0.7%) and magnesium (0.04%). This helps prevent obesity and the development of urolithiasis.
SensitiveDry300 rub.Food for cats with sensitive digestion. Not the best recipe. While the main protein and carbohydrate ingredients are turkey, rice and lamb, chicken fat and corn are also on the list. The latter ingredients can cause allergies and aggravate the condition of hypersensitive animals.
IndoorDry300 rub.Food for domestic cats. It has an average calorie content: 365 kcal per 100 g. This helps maintain normal weight despite lack of physical activity.
LightDry300 rub.Food for overweight cats. The diet is low in fat (11%) and low in calories (355 kcal per 100 g). If you follow daily norms, this helps normalize body weight.

Veterinarian advice

Brit's products appeared on the Russian market long enough for experienced veterinarians to be able to give advice and feedback on its use.

The main ones:

  • Brit brand food is perfect for cats of different ages and lifestyles. In addition, they are hypoallergenic and can be used as the only and main source of nutrition.
  • The product contains a large number of natural meat ingredients, which contributes to the good health of the animal, improves the quality of the coat and strengthens the teeth.
  • A varied and proper combination of meat and vegetables promotes healthy digestion and improved well-being.
  • If your pet is accustomed to foods with flavor enhancers, he may not like Brit food at first, because... it does not contain such components.
  • The animal's feces may become more "odorous." This is a natural reaction of the body to a more natural composition of the product.

Veterinarians agree that the food from the Czech company Brit is an original combination of ingredients, as well as vitamins and minerals. All these qualities allow us to recommend it for use for cats of all ages.

Important! In order to avoid underfeeding or overfeeding the animal, carefully read the dosage.

Composition of Brit feeds, their advantages and disadvantages

To get an objective review, we decided to look separately at food from the Brit Premium and Brit Care lines, and then compare them with each other and understand which series is better. We will evaluate not only pelleted diets, but also wet diets.

Characteristics of Brit Care feed

Brit Care Cat Lucky dry food for adult cats contains the following components:

  • dehydrated chicken (22%);
  • rice;
  • chicken fillet (20%);
  • rice bran;
  • dehydrated turkey (6%);
  • chicken fat (preserved with tocopherols);
  • dried apples;
  • chicken liver (2%);
  • salmon oil;
  • Brewer's yeast;
  • plantain (200 mg/kg);
  • mananooligosaccharides (155 mg/kg);
  • fructooligosaccharides (125 mg/kg);
  • Yucca Schidigera extract (85 mg/kg);
  • sea buckthorn (50 mg/kg).

The first place is occupied by an ingredient of animal origin in an already dehydrated form, which is very commendable. Unfortunately, this is not pure meat without additives. Most likely, the manufacturer uses whole carcasses. The meat is represented by chicken fillet, but after evaporation of water its share is 7–8%. Since rice bran is located after it, there are still more plant components in the feed. Brit Care is classified either as premium or super-premium, but the truth is somewhere in the middle. The latter usually contain more meat, so the line does not reach this indicator, but in terms of quality it is head and shoulders above many representatives of the premium class.

The granules are quite large, so the food is not suitable for all cats due to increased stress on the teeth

Separately, I would like to note that the manufacturer adds enough preventive additives. The list of ingredients includes prebiotics, yucca extract, dried apples, salmon oil, etc. They improve digestion, reduce the unpleasant odor of feces and improve the condition of the coat and skin. From my own experience I can say that the food is well suited for animals with hypersensitivity. After most diets my cat has blood in her stool. We went to the veterinarian and underwent an examination, but did not find the cause. The doctor said that this is an individual reaction to certain foods. After switching to Brit, the situation returned to normal. Of course, the quality of the food is worse than holistic food, but it is what supports normal digestion in my cat.

Brit Care Cat Tuna & Turkey wet food contains the following ingredients:

  • tuna (40%);
  • turkey (5%);
  • rice;
  • water.

The composition is very laconic, which is commendable, but canned food is not very nutritious. For example, my cat does not eat even two jars even though I additionally give her dry food. This is most likely due to the increased water content. The liquid is even separated into a separate component. This is normal for spiders, but in the case of canned food I would like to see a higher meat content. In addition, the manufacturer added rice. Most likely, this was done to give the necessary consistency. Although the proportion of grains is small, it would be better if they were not included in the composition at all.

In Brit Care Cat Tuna & Turkey cans you can see some fibers and pieces of meat

Characteristics of Brit Premium feed

Brit Premium Cat Adult Chicken dry food contains the following ingredients:

  • chicken (dried chicken 20%, chicken meal 20%);
  • rice;
  • chicken fat (preserved with tocopherols);
  • corn;
  • Brewer's yeast;
  • chicken liver sauce (4%);
  • salmon fish oil (1%);
  • dried beet pulp;
  • dried dandelion (0.25%);
  • prebiotics (mannanoligosaccharides 140 mg/kg, fructooligosaccharides 110 mg/kg);
  • Yucca extract (yucca schidigera) (75 mg/kg);
  • fruit and herbal extract (rosemary, cloves, citrus, turmeric, 55 mg/kg).

It is commendable that the manufacturer even indicates the weight fraction of the additives. In general, the composition is similar to Brit Care, but instead of chicken fillet, chicken flour is used. This increases the overall proportion of animal ingredients. The manufacturer indicated that the food belongs to the premium class, but in fact it can be compared with some representatives of the super-premium category. The overall picture is spoiled by the presence of corn. It would be better if they replaced it with peas. It is also a useless filler, but not as dangerous as corn. But the company uses natural flavors. For example, chicken liver sauce.

Granules-pads can injure the mucous membranes of the stomach due to hypersensitivity with sharp corners

Despite all the benefits, I cannot unequivocally recommend Brit Premium. It is not suitable for animals with allergies. The most common irritants are chicken and corn. Before switching to Brit Care, I started giving my cat Brit Premium. As a result, the pet developed red spots and the area around the eyes became bald. I had to give up this line, although I liked it better in terms of meat content.

Brit Premium Cat Pouch wet food with chicken contains the following ingredients:

  • meat and meat by-products (82%, of which 8% chicken);
  • plant protein extracts;
  • vegetable by-products (0.4% inulin);
  • minerals;
  • carbohydrates.

This is a regular premium complete food. The meat content is high at first glance, but in fact most of it is meat by-products. If there were more pure muscle tissue, the manufacturer would definitely divide these ingredients into 2 positions and indicate their percentage. The confusing thing is that out of 82%, only 8% is chicken. A natural question arises: what else does the food contain? Chicken is the cheapest type of meat. If the manufacturer has not indicated the full composition, it means that he is trying to hide something. From personal impressions I can say that the food does not inspire confidence. Before the allergy appeared, I tried giving pouches to my cat, but she vomited some time after eating. I'm guessing this is due to the poor quality of the ingredients.

Externally, Brit Premium Cat Pouch wet food resembles economy class diets: the same pressed pieces that do not look like meat

Which is better: Brit Care or Brit Premium?

It is difficult to definitively answer the question of which line of food is better. Brit Premium dry food contains corn, but it contains more meat. Among wet food, the favorite is the Brit Care series. If your cat is not allergic to grains, it is better to combine Brit Premium dry diets with Brit Care canned food. If undesirable individual reactions occur, you can change the ruler.

Feed overview

Brit Care food for cats belongs to the super-premium class and is presented in the form of:

  • dry diet;
  • pieces of meat in sauce, jelly or pates.

Brit Premium food

The manufacturer's food is divided into Care and Premium lines.

The difference is in the original ingredients and balance.

Premium – premium food, made with chicken meat.

Care is an updated super-premium diet, it costs more.

Here are combinations of four different types of meat: turkey, duck, venison, lamb. There are also options with salmon.

When it comes to Brit wet foods, they are flavorful and appealing to most cats.

In consistency they are as close as possible to natural meat.

The composition does not contain preservatives, dyes, or flavors.

For an animal to be healthy and develop properly, it needs high-quality nutrition.

In addition, it is important to take care of the pet’s comfort by choosing suitable litter for the toilet and accustoming the kitten to the litter box.

A wide range of Brit Care foods are available

Important! There are varying opinions regarding how your cat reacted to Brit food. The preferences of pets are very different, and you need to focus on them when choosing a diet.

200 rub.Excellent value for money. For a premium class representative there is a lot of meat in the composition. However, it is not recommended to give food to your cat all the time, because it does not contain enough animal proteins.

FOOD FOR BRITISH CATS: WHICH IS BETTER TO CHOOSE?

Feed manufacturers are increasingly making breed divisions in their feeds. There are lines of food specifically divided by breed, for example, Persian, Maine Coon, etc. There are also such foods for the British. Is it worth buying food based only on the name?

On the one hand, each breed has its own needs and predispositions to diseases.

On the other hand, having repeatedly compared feed compositions, no significant differences were noticed. Or they are so tiny that they are simply lost in tenths of a percent.

When choosing food for your pets, I would like, first of all, to recommend giving preference to the premium/super premium class, reading the composition, checking for the presence of vitamins and microelements. Still, such divisions by breed are more like an advertising ploy class=”aligncenter” width=”2368″ height=”988″[/img]

FOOD FOR BRITISH DEPENDING ON COLOR

This is not written anywhere, but based on extensive experience, it has been noticed that many foods contain coloring substances or products (even natural ones - for example, carrots, sparkling, etc.)

The British have more than 200 videos of colors. There are some foods that can “discolor” bright colors or, on the contrary, form spots on light colors (for example, silver).

You should carefully read the ingredients or monitor your pet for 1-2 weeks after switching to a new food.

This does not cause health problems, but it manifests itself externally. You should not switch animals to new food before exhibitions, so that there are no upsetting surprises.

FOOD FOR NEUTERED BRITISH CATS

Neutered pet food is still recommended for neutered animals. This is important because animals after castration are susceptible to weight gain and urolithiasis. If an animal is neutered at a young age, veterinarians often recommend keeping regular food for up to 5-7 years, then switching to special food for neutered animals. However, everything is individual. In any case, it is better to get individual advice from a specialist regarding your pet.

FOOD FOR STERILIZED BRITISH CATS

In principle, the composition of food for cats and cats is identical. Often have one series. It is recommended to adhere to the diet for sterilized cats, especially older ones. Often even food is combined, because... the compositions are similar. The line is called “for sterilized and elderly cats.”

We must pay tribute to the manufacturers; almost everyone has a separate line for castrated/sterilized animals. They are great, they take care of the composition based on the characteristics of our favorites.

FOOD FOR BRITISH LONGHAIR CATS

There are no particular differences in food for long-haired British cats and short-haired ones. There are some manufacturers that produce a line of food for skin and wool.

However, good veterinarians recommend leaving the dry food that your pet is used to and supplementing the diet with special vitamins (for example, Brevers 8 in 1).
