“Travmatin”: how and where to inject a dog

Is it possible to give?

Traumatin does not pose a danger to pets. Veterinarians often recommend giving the drug to dogs, because it has the following medicinal properties:

  1. Relieves pain. The analgesic effect occurs almost immediately after administration. No additional use of analgesics is required.
  2. Struggling with shock. Immediately after intravenous injection, an anti-shock effect occurs.
  3. Stops bleeding. This quality of the drug allows it to be used when a dog is injured and during surgery.
  4. Eliminates inflammation. Within a short period of time, Travmatin can eliminate the inflammatory process occurring in the dog’s body and prevent the development of inflammation.
  5. Restores damaged tissue.

Veterinarians recommend using Travmatin after operations, because it reduces the toxic load on the dog’s body, making recovery from anesthesia much faster and easier. In the postoperative period, the drug promotes rapid tissue regeneration.

Due to the stimulation of redox processes in the body, Travmatin is widely used in veterinary practice for all types of surgical interventions. Injections can be given subcutaneously or intravenously, depending on the condition of the pet. Do not use the solution if it contains cloudiness, foreign matter or sediment.

Less common, but Travmatin is found in tablets or gel form, for local treatment and oral use. The tablets are packaged in plastic packaging, and the gel is presented in the form of a thick yellowish substance. But more often they use a solution, because it is faster-acting and easily digestible.

Travmatin is a homeopathic medicine, i.e. It is a highly diluted substance and is of plant origin, which makes it extremely safe for animals.

It is based on plant substances such as:

  1. Mountain arnica (arnica montana) - from it. "wound grass" The inflorescences of this plant contain substances that have hemostatic properties. Promotes the healing of wounds and various bruises, strengthens the walls of blood vessels and maintains their tone, reduces brain excitability and has a beneficial effect on the nervous system, blocks the development of infections, without causing any side effects.
  2. Chamomile (matricaria recutita) - famous for its anti-inflammatory, antiseptic effect, is a pain-relieving plant, a kind of anesthetic, calms and helps to get out of a state of shock. Also contains substances that have antidepressant effects and trigger the immune system.
  3. Calendula (calendula officinalis) – its flowers are strong antiseptics and have bactericidal properties. Promotes tissue regeneration for various wounds, bruises, burns and frostbite, and is effective for suppuration. Medicines based on its flowers calm the central nervous system and reduce excitability.
  4. Echinacea purpurea (echinacea purpurea) is a strong immunostimulant, used to stimulate the phagocytic reaction in traumatism with damage to the skin and mucous membranes, has anti-inflammatory properties in purulent and other processes, helps strengthen the immune system, blocks infections, prevents infections and other serious complications in various injuries

  2. Calcium sulfur liver (Hepar sulfuris) is a compound of potassium thiosulfate with potassium polysulfide (a mixture of fine powder of sulfur and calcium obtained by grinding oyster shells). This substance fights acute inflammation, helps with severe purulent processes, has a bactericidal effect, improves metabolism, biochemical processes and general regeneration.

In addition, the drug contains the following excipients:

Instructions for use

Injection

The most effective form of Travmatin in the treatment of dogs is considered to be an injection solution. When administered intravenously, the drug almost immediately relieves pain, brings the animal out of shock, and eliminates bleeding. The injections are effective as an emergency treatment.

Dosage

The dosage is calculated individually – 0.1 ml per 1 kg of pet’s weight. It is recommended to divide the daily dose by 2 times, administering the solution in the morning and evening. The duration of therapy is from 5 to 10 days, but in difficult cases it can be increased to 30 days.

How and where to inject?

Travmatin is administered not only intravenously, but also intramuscularly. The second option is easier, because with intravenous administration it is quite difficult to find a pet’s blood vessel.

An intramuscular injection is made under the shoulder blade into a fold of skin. For an abscess, injections are given around the perimeter, but this procedure can only be performed by a specialist.

Gel

The gel is a thick yellowish substance. This form of the drug is used for external use.

If the wound is shallow, then the medicinal composition is applied to it in a thin layer twice a day. If the wound is deep, then soak a sterile bandage in the gel and apply it to the injury site. After 30-40 minutes, the bandage should be removed.

The gel is not always easy to use. The dog will try to lick the medicine from the wound, so you will have to use a special protective collar.

Pills

Travmatin in the form of tablets began to be produced recently. The manufacturer did this to facilitate the administration of the medicinal composition. The disadvantage of this form is that the stomach has an acidic environment, which dissolves the beneficial components of the tablets. As a result, medications are poorly absorbed and the effect of treatment is reduced.

Single dose – 2 tablets. Frequency – 2-4 times a day depending on the weight of the pet.

Indications for use

Travmatin is prescribed for fractures, dislocations, cracks, and other tissue damage. It is prescribed for cuts, lacerations, burns, and frostbite. Other general indicators of drug use:

  • abscesses, phlegmons, purulent accumulations;
  • arthritis, arthrosis, joint diseases;
  • dermatitis, eczema caused by ectoparasites;
  • oncology;
  • inflammation;
  • traumatic, painful, anaphylactic shock;
  • heat, sunstroke.

Traumatine for animals helps to stop and reduce even severe bleeding. It has an anti-shock effect, therefore it is indicated for conditions or diseases:

  • skin diseases: injuries, thermal and chemical burns, all stages of frostbite, biting, lacerations, incised wounds, infectious dermatitis, eczema;
  • pathologies of the musculoskeletal system: arthritis, arthrosis, bursitis, fractures, bruises, dislocations, traumatic swelling, pain reactions;
  • inflammatory diseases: abscesses, ulcers, phlegmon, fibrous mastitis;
  • periodontal diseases, otitis;
  • obstetric care: prevention of ruptures of the birth canal with excessively large offspring, elimination of placenta retention, pyometra, endometritis.
